• Face Cleanser
Using a face cleanser, makeup wipes or cleansing balm to clean and remove any leftover makeup, impurities, dirt, and bacteria that have built up during the day or overnight is the first step in every skincare routine.
Tip: gently rub in your preferred face cleanser for 1 to 2 minutes to allow it to enter your skin pores and soak up any key ingredients.
Exfoliating your skin one to three times a week using either a chemical or mechanical(physical) exfoliant has some key benefits which include;
— Remove any dead skin cells from the surface of your skin.
— Prepare your skin for other products you are going to be applying later on.
— It allows for the complete absorption of skin products into new healthy skin cells.
— Slow down the aging process.
— Minimize the build-up of impurities in your skin pores which can lead to breakouts.
You can either use a toner or lotion with a thin liquid consistency for the skin treatment.
Applying a skin toner or lotion to your face after exfoliation helps you to obtain three key things:
— A balanced skin PH. The right PH for perfect skin is 5.5.
— Elimination of leftover impurities or dirt from exfoliating.
— Prepare your skin for hydration.
2. HYDRATION & TREATMENT
You are to use the type of facemask that is suitable for your skin type at least once or thrice a week. Some facemasks help to stimulate blood flow to your face, hydrate your face or soften your face.
• Facial Essences
Essences are made of Glycerin and Hyaluronic acid that help to improve your skin texture/tone, hydrate and make your skin look fresh and plump.
• Facial serums, boosters or ampoules.
Serums are made of tiny molecules. This contains rich and active ingredients that can enter into the skin faster and prevent certain skin issues.
• Beauty Oil or Retinoids
You can apply any beauty care oil, retinoid or retinol oil of your choice. That is compatible with your skin type or manufacturer’s instructions.
Note: Retinoids should be applied only at night because it can make your skin to be very sensitive to sunlight and prone to skin damage.
Moisturizers should be used after your serums because they are made up of larger molecules. To use a serum that contains tiny molecules will allow them to get into the skin easier. When you use a moisturizer with larger molecules that can block their proper entry into the skin pores.
Moisturizers also help to add moisture to your skin and form a protective layer to lock in all the hydration from other face products.
• Eye cream
Eye creams should not be applied directly under your eyes or lids because they are thin and delicate. Instead, you need to use your finger to locate your eye socket or orbital bone. Apply some eye cream around that area.
Using a sunscreen is a very important day time step to protect your skin from the sun’s UV rays. The sun’s UV rays can cause sunburn and have been linked to skin cancer.
Please make notes of all these important points. Be friendly with your skin as your skin values a lot for you.
